KSKJ Life, American Slovenian Catholic Union (Kranjsko Slovenska Katoliska Jednota) was founded in Joliet, Illinois, in April of 1894. A group of Slovenian immigrants, headed by Fr. Francis Sustercic, agreed that they could help each other by being united.

KSKJ Life is not your regular insurance/annuity company. We offer great financial products, but we also offer many great fraternal benefits: KSKJ Voice (monthly member publication), educational scholarships, baby benefits, and many social and athletic activities.

KSKJ Life operates under a lodge system that is governed by our society bylaws. Each active lodge has a slate of officers, elected democratically, and must meet certain requirements. When these requirements are met, each lodge receives allotments from the Home Office that help support their activities. Some of these activities may be social, but many are about giving back to their communities and organizations in need.

Over 118 years later, the society has over $256 million in assets. The spirit of kinship and fraternalism burns as bright today as it did yesteryear and is still providing members and their families with financial security and fraternal benefits that promote traditional Christian heritage and family values. Today, membership is open to all baptized Christians and non-Christian spouses of members.
